The reality is that most of the popular car rental companies have operations in Cape Town. I am talking about the likes of TEMPEST, Sixt, Avis, Imperial, Hertz, Europa to name just a few. Amongst these I have only one that I prefer but before I get too personal let me just tell you about a few non-popular Cape Town car rental companies.

One of the most highly recommended is Africar Hire. Their prominent service is the insurance they offer. It is one of the best in amongst Cape Town car rental companies. They also have reasonable rates to. One thing to mention about these is that Hertz offers their cars.

I have a met a few friends of mine who have use Avis and Hertz. Although I have no personal experience with these except Imperial-Europ, you should probably check them out especially if you are going to be picking the car up at the airport. Avis offers full insurance but they price is not as favorable as the others. While Imperial-Europ offers a good pricing structure and has a vast network not only in Cape Town but across the country. You can also check out Alamo.

It is all well and good to have a short-list of Cape Town car rental companies but there are some few things you should keep in mind while looking for your best option.

Regardless of the company you choose you must make sure the insurance offered is comprehensive enough for you. Most of the companies do offer theft waiver and collision damage waiver, anything else beyond that is normally your problem.

Logistics management in the car rental business involves short-term decisions about the transportation and deployment of cars with regard to optimizing fleet utilization while maintaining a high service level. We model and solve this problem by means of minimum cost network flow optimization under consideration of essential practical needs such as multi-period planning, a country-wide network, customized transportation relations, fleeting and defleeting, and car groups with partial substitutability. Experiments were conducted on substantial real-world data, using a simulation model to assess optimization results for different scenarios. The results indicate that the proposed approach can significantly improve efficiency.

Most of us associate car rentals with getting from the airport to our business meeting or something we do when our own vehicle is in for extended repairs. We might drive a car we’re thinking of buying next, while daydreaming about the car we’d really like to drive. So, why not think about the recreational opportunities of a sports car rental?

For those who wonder what dad or grandpa (or grandma) smiles about when thinking about the “good old days,” a sports car rental can be a retro experience to connect with a simpler age. But, only the cars were simple: you will need to learn to shift a four-speed manual transmission, maybe fiddle with a manual choke to start a cold engine. The classic sports cars were all convertibles, or “rag tops.” Converting from open to closed car meant unfolding a frame with more braces and latches than three beach chairs, then fastening the top to the body with snaps or twist fasteners. Roll-up windows were a modern invention, too-for cars with low, scooped doors trimmed with leather, like the older MG and Triumph models, side-curtain panels fastened to mounts on the inside of the doors.

Of course, the fun of a sports car rental is that you don’t have to drive in the rain or on cold days-the car is yours for a day, weekend, or week. Most companies that rent them are located in more temperate climes, so hopefully you can pick good weather to enjoy the thrill of the open road and recapture the age of motor touring in style, in a classic sports car. Who knows, a weekend sports car rental could turn you into a sports car owner, again or at last.
